Chantelle admits to living mostly on water in her skinny days, when she was battling bulimia

She shot to fame as Jordan / Katie Price’s rival and, for long, Chantelle Houghton mirrored Jordan’s career with everything that she did, from the fake tan to the wild parties she attended and her rather unorthodox style of dress. It all changed when she became increasingly obsessed with her weight and developed bulimia. It was then she reached a period where she would starve herself and, at the same time, make herself sick to keep the weight off, Chantelle says for the latest issue of Heat Magazine.

According to the star, who has moved from her glamour girl image and is even considering choosing another career in the spotlight, her disease got so bad that, at one point, she would drink 8 bottles of 1.5 liter of water just to fool herself into thinking that she was full. She was also making herself sick deliberately to make sure all she ate came out almost immediately afterwards, and would obsess about her body and her weight almost constantly throughout the day.

“I was making myself sick a lot, so food was just coming straight back out of me. I was obsessed from the minute I woke up in the morning until the minute I went to bed. I was constantly watching what I was eating. Food was always on my mind. I was literally drinking about eight of those liter-and-a-half bottles a day. The water would fill me up.” Chantelle says. In the same interview, she hints that it was being part of the industry that also contributed to her becoming so thin. “I had people tell me that I needed to lose weight, put lots of make-up on, go out, etc. My periods even stopped for a whole year.”

Now, Chantelle has gained a few pounds, and is frequently going to the gym to make sure she gains weight beautifully and her body does not lose its proportions. This is, as fans must know, not the first time that the former model speaks of having to battle bulimia for almost two years, a period in which she became worryingly thin. It is, however, a first in terms of Chantelle going into specifics about it.

“It’s a constant battle with my weight, and I’ll always have an issue with it. I have tried every diet there is, from body wraps and the Special K diet to just drinking water, but I know I have to eat healthily and go to the gym, because that's the only thing that works. I’ve tried everything, apart from surgery and it can make you really unhappy about yourself. I know I look better being curvier, but I put pressure on myself. I know I didn’t look healthy and I’d never want to be that skinny again, ever.” the former model vouches in the same interview.
