Alleged former classmate calls out Rebel Wilson for lying about her age, name and pretty much everything else

Rebel Wilson, one of the stars on the hit comedy “Pitch Perfect 2,” now out in theaters, and one of the most famous female comediennes of our time, is as good at lying as she is at telling jokes, according to a former classmate.

Rebel claims she’s 29 and she often speaks of her wild, unpredictable and often dangerous younger years, but the unnamed classmate is calling her out in an interview with Australia’s Woman’s Day.

Rebel is 36, was never funny growing up

Speaking with the tabloid, the classmate, who chooses not to go on the record with her name, claims that Rebel constructed this bohemian, wild and misfit persona for herself just so she could break into Hollywood.

She needed a good story to sell and because she didn’t have one, she made it up. In real life, she was just a girl who never stood out, who was never funny.

“She’s clearly got a vivid imagination. Maybe you have to tell stories to make it in Hollywood!” the alleged classmate says. “I studied with Rebel at Tara Anglican School for Girls in North Parramatta, Sydney. But no-one knew of a Rebel Wilson. Her name is - or was - Melanie Elizabeth Bownds, and she’s 36 - she was born in 1979 and we left school in 1997. She was definitely not the class clown; none of us remember her being funny.”

To prove she’s not lying, the classmate also includes a couple of photos of Rebel with her classmates. In all of them, she’s tagged as Melanie Elizabeth Bownds, which would seem to confirm the claim that she lied about her name.

However, Rebel has said in several interviews that during school, both she and her brothers went by their middle names to avoid bullying.

Rebel responds, is awesome

As you can see from the Twitter messages included below, Rebel Wilson really doesn’t care for these former classmates coming out of the woodwork now to tell juicy stories.

Seeing how “Pitch Perfect 2” was the biggest opening this weekend and how it already made a killing at the box office, having stories of this type pop up in the press is expected. That doesn’t mean that they’re always true.

Rebel is obviously choosing the highway, by taking a light approach to the “scandalous” story. It’s better than coming out and calling another person a liar.

Even if the former classmate is telling the truth, Rebel wouldn’t be the first or the last celebrity to make up stuff about their pre-fame personal life or to lie about their age. Of the stars who have been accused of either along the years, we include Beyonce, Eminem, Catherine Zeta-Jones or Jessica Chastain.

Worst case scenario, Rebel Wilson is in good company.
