Harmonix and MTV Games have announced new songs that players will be able to enjoy when Rock Band 3 comes out. The new tracks are unveiled after the two companies tested fans of the series over the course of the Comic Con get together, putting out clues that allowed them to guess which artists will be bringing their music to the new music simulation title.

The new songs that are confirmed as appearing in Rock Band 3 are: “The Beautiful People” from Marilyn Manson, “Hey Man, Nice Shot” as performed by Filter, “Cold As Ice” by Foreigner, “Foolin’” from Def Leppard, “Rock Lobster” by The B-52s and Tears For Fears playing “Everybody Wants To Rule The World”. The developers stated that all the songs offered are master recordings.

Rock Band 3 is set to arrive on October 26, 2010 on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Nintendo Wii home consoles. There's also a version for the DS line up of handhelds in development. The game is set to revolutionize the way players rock out to their favorite tunes, allowing for more simulation options and introducing the possibility of playing the keyboard for the first time in the series.

Harmonix has made it clear that those who pick up Rock Band 3 will be able to use peripherals designed for previous Rock Band video games and for The Beatles game to play the new songs, with most of the instruments for Guitar Hero also compatible. The idea is to introduce the players to a more complex experience, designed to bring them closer to the music they like, without asking them to pick up a new set of hardware which can be costly and will further crowd the game room. Rock Band 3 will face competition from a Guitar Hero title from Activision.
