Forefront Client Security has been certified for use by UK governmental and public sector agencies. At the end of June 2009, Forefront Client Security received the CESG Claims Tested Mark (CCTM), accreditation awarded by West Coast Labs. Microsoft was little shy of applauding the fact that Forefront managed to live up to the standards synonymous with West Coast Labs' Checkmark Certification testing program. The Redmond company indicated that CCTM certification was synonymous with a stamp of approval indicating that UK government departments can rely on Forefront for their endpoint protection needs.

“The CCTM certification signifies Microsoft's continued commitment to providing businesses and public sector organizations with comprehensive security and identity solutions that empower people and help meet organizational goals,” said John Chirapurath, director in the Identity and Security Business Group at Microsoft.

The Infosecurity Europe 2009 event acted as the stage where Microsoft was awarded the CCTM certificate for Forefront Client Security. While the certification is indeed focused on the AntiMalware capabilities offered by the security solution, CCTM is also a mark that looks to performance in addition to malware detection. In this sense, West Coast Labs revealed that Forefront had also passed a series of its tests including the Checkmark Certification system, which evaluates the product against malware, spyware, Trojans, viruses, as well as anti-virus disinfection. West Coast Labs explained that the entire span of tests contributed to Forefront being awarded the CCT accreditation.

“CESG is the UK government's National Technical Authority for Information Assurance. The certification is designed to attest to the overall effectiveness and performance of a product providing protection from a wide variety of security threats (malware, spam, URLs, etc). It is the fastest growing certification systems for information security products and services and is a highly regarded accreditation program,” a member of the Forefront team stated.
