Gran Turismo 5, the racing simulation title that was launched exclusively for the PlayStation 3, has lost the first position in the United Kingdom video game chart, which it had gained in its first week on sale, dethroned by Call of Duty: Black Ops, the biggest entertainment launch of the year.

Call of Duty: Black Ops came back from second spot and it’s now likely that the first person shooter might stay there for Christmas and maybe even beyond into 2011, with the only remaining big release of the year being the Cataclysm expansion for the MMO World of Warcraft.

FIFA 11 has also seen a boost in the position it occupies, coming into second spot for the week, up from fourth, while Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, the action title from Ubisoft, remains steadfast in third position.

Gran Turismo 5, from Polyphony Digital and Sony, has seen a drop of four positions and exited the top three, showing that six years and millions of dollars spent on development do not automatically translate into domination in sales charts.

The racing game offers a host of events to choose from, allowing the gamer to experience NASCAR racing, rally courses and a superb set of races built around famous circuits all over the world.

Just Dance 2 from Ubisoft is at number five while a similarly themed game from the same publisher, Michael Jackson: The Experience has launched in sixth.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, from Electronic Arts and Criterion, has slid down exactly one place to reach seventh as Wii Party from Nintendo did the same to end up in eight position.

Wii Fit Plus has reentered the top ten at nine, coming from thirteenth, while Professor Layton and the Lost Future closes down the main body of the United Kingdom chart.

Art Academy and Donkey Kong Country Returns are now out of the top ten.
