Mary Konye, the 21-year-old who maimed her friend with sulfuric acid, was caught on camera during the actual following of the victim, Naomi Oni, on the way home from work. The young girl, disguised in a Muslim veil is shown closely stalking the victim minutes before the jealousy-triggered attack.

Naomi's story was heard by millions, and the struggle with the aftermath of the attack has been more than painful. The young university student had acid thrown in her face by a friend for being beautiful and causing the attacker's jealousy.

After months of court hearings and attempt of closing the case, CCTV footage of the actual stalking was revealed showing Mary Konye following Naomi in the subway station.

Naomi was unaware of the person following her until she got off the bus and felt a “presence” behind. When she turned around, she felt a splash and then a strong burning sensation as the skin on her face and chest began dissolving.

Miss Oni remembered facing her attacker and only being able to see a pair of eyes staring just before throwing the corrosive substance straight to the face. She immediately ran home screaming “acid, acid” according to Daily Mail. Naomi's parents tried to wash the acid away, but it was too late as it had already damaged a lot of tissue.

The victim also confessed that prior to the incident Mary issued a threat, saying that she would throw acid to her face, as payback for an “ugly monster” insult. According to several confessions, Mary planned on maiming Naomi before the actual attack but was stopped by a friend that told her it was a very stupid thing to do and that she could end up in jail.

Allegedly, before the attack miss Konye posted a picture of Freddy Krueger, a disfigured villain from horror movies, on the Internet saying “she better not mess with me ot I'll make her face look like this.” After the attack, it was said that the student posted another photo, this time with a disfigured character from the movies Nightmare On Elm Street with the caption “Who looks like Wrong Turn now?”

The obsessive attacker admitted following Ms. Oni while wearing a niqab but denied throwing the acid on the victim's face with the intent to maim or cause bodily harm.
