About a week ago, an explosion occurred at a natural gas drilling site in Pennsylvania, US, and people living in the town of Dunkard were pretty badly shaken by the event.

Word has it that, looking to once again make friends with these people, energy company Chevron decided to offer them the best gift ever: free pizza.

Thus, Eco Watch reports that, on Saturday, folks with the Chevron Appalachia Community Outreach Team handed gift certificates for free pizzas to about 100 homes in said town.

Apparently, the coupons were accompanied by a letter, available in the picture above, which read as follows:

“Chevron recognizes the effect this has had on the community. We value being a responsible member of this community and will continue to strive to achieve incident-free operations.”

Furthermore, “We are committed to taking action to safeguard our neighbors, our employees, our contractors and the environment.”

The gift certificates are for a large special combo pizza from Bobtown Pizza, and expire this coming May 1. Because Chevron is nothing if not considerate, the gift certificates also include a two-liter soda.
