A new version of Flash Player 10.2 is now available in the Android Market, with a nice range of enhancements aimed at devices running under Google's mobile operating system, and with reference to the next release of Honeycomb, namely Android 3.1.

The new platform version was not announced as of yet, but Adobe let it slip in the release notes for the new Flash Player 10.2.157.51, which made it to the Android Market only a few days ago.

“This is a production GA (General Availability) release for Android 2.2 (Froyo), 2.3 (Gingerbread), and 3.0.1+ (Honeycomb) devices,” Adobe announced.

As soon as Android 3.1 arrives on tablet PCs out there, users would be able to take advantage of hardware accelerated video presentation, as well as of enhanced browser integration, the company announced.

Moreover, they unveiled that there are also a series of bug fixes included into the mix, which were meant for all Android users, it seems.

“Today we are releasing Flash Player 10.2 for Android Honeycomb devices, available for download from Android Market,” Adobe notes in a recent blog post.

“This final release will take advantage of Google’s enhancements in an upcoming update to Honeycomb, including hardware accelerated playback of 720p high-definition video referenced in our earlier blog post.”

As stated above, these enhancements are meant only for the next Honeycomb release, which was initially named Android 3.1, as the first screenshot attached to this article (via Droid-life) shows, then called “a new Honeycomb OS update.”

“Users of Android 3.0.1 will not experience these improvements until their devices receive the update to Honeycomb,” Adobe announced.

“In addition, this Flash Player 10.2 release includes a security update addressing the Flash Player vulnerability announced on April 15th for all versions of Android.”

Google has yet to unveil the new Android 3 flavor, something that might happen in a couple of weeks, at Google’s I/O developer conference, set to take place in San Francisco on May 10-11th.

In the meantime, Android users can download and install the new Flash Player 10.2 from the Android Market here.
