Rockstar Games confirms that, when will eventually launches the online heists for Grand Theft Auto 5's multiplayer mode early next year, it will roll out five different mission sets that should take 20+ hours to complete in their entirety.

GTA 5 launched back in September of 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and reached the PS4 and Xbox One in November of this year, while the PC version is set to roll out next month. During this time, Rockstar also released plenty of themed updates for the game and its GTA Online multiplayer, but the biggest feature – online heists – was still uncertain.

After pushing back the release of the special activities once more earlier this month, as they're now set to appear in the beginning of 2015, Rockstar brings forth a few actual details about the heists.

Five lengthy heists are coming to the game

According to the studio's Imran Sarwar, who is the lead mission designer and one of the many GTA Online producers, there will be five unique heists coming to the multiplayer mode. While that doesn't sound like a lot, the developer quickly emphasizes that they total around 20 missions that should take a very long time to complete.

Throw in the different ways Rockstar hopes people will replay the heists and the studio is confident that it can deliver a stellar and long-lasting experience even with the five major missions.

"There are five unique strands involving over 20 total missions, which will add up to around 20 hours of gameplay. We hope players will then replay them multiple times to take on the other roles and to try different ways of tackling the missions. We’ve tried to add a lot of variety and there’s a mixture of open-ended gameplay, big set-pieces and a few surprises too," he tells IGN.

Plenty of bonuses are included

What's more, for really dedicated players, Rockstar throws in special bonuses when they meet certain conditions or play with the same friends. Various other rewards include using first-person view mode throughout the missions, so expect a lot of varied experiences.

"We have several rewards for players as well, such as for playing all five heists in order with the same set of players and another bonus for playing all of them in first-person [mode] on PS4, Xbox One, or PC, as well as Elite Bonus Challenges, which are essentially a big cash reward if you complete each part of a heist while meeting certain criteria, such as time to complete, damage taken, accuracy," he adds.

As such, you can expect to spend a lot of time in GTA 5's online mode once the new heists are available for all to enjoy next year.
