Two of them are desktop chips and the other two are laptop processors

Being registered to receive Intel product updates, I have received a bunch of product change notifications from the company over the past few days. Thus, I have learned that some CPUs will be leaving us.

Two of said CPUs, the Core i3-3210 and Core i3-3225, are dual-core units operating at 3.2 GHz and 3.3 GHz, respectively.

The other three are made for laptops and are known as Core i7-3720QM (2.6 GHz frequency), i7-3820QM (2.7 GHz) and i7-3920XM (2.9 GHz). These ones are quad-core chips with 6/8 MB cache memory.

The reason for this discontinuance (the CPUs will be out of the market by March 28, 2014) is the shift in demand to newer CPUs.

The ones leaving are Ivy Bridge released between the second and third quarter of 2012, while the current generation, the fourth, are Haswell units that came out this year during the same period.
