Leading developer and publisher of video games Gameloft has just announced the upcoming availability of no less than five new games for the new Windows Phone 7 operating system from Redmond-based software giant Microsoft.

According to the company, the all of these titles are HD games, including UNO, Assassin’s Creed, Earthworm Jim, Brain Challenge and The Oregon Trail.

“Launching simultaneously with the new devices, Uno and Earthworm Jim are available worldwide, except in North America where they will launch in conjunction with the devices on November 8th,” the company announced.

As for the other three games from Gameloft, namely Assassin’s Creed, The Oregon Trail (US & Canada) and Brain Challenge, they are expected to become available during the holiday season.

The new games were made available for download directly from the Windows Phone Marketplace, the game developer added.

“Windows Phone 7 devices feature expanded multimedia functions that include full-3D optimized graphics, multi-touch screen, and accelerometer on models from HTC, LG, Samsung and Dell,” the company notes.

At the same time, the company announced that it plans on bringing more titles to the Windows Phone 7 platform, including Asphalt 5, Let’s Golf 2 and Real Soccer 2011.

Gameloft's titles arrive in the Windows Phone Marketplace at a time when the portal reportedly passed the 1,000 applications mark.

Of course, this figure does not even come close to the number of mobile applications available via other similar software portals, but it is impressive when taking into consideration the fact that Windows Phone 7 arrived on shelves less than a week ago.

According to the guys over at WMPoweruser, while the older Windows Marketplace for Mobile needed over 7 months to pass the 1,000 apps mark, the new Windows Phone 7 portal reached the milestone in only several days.

Most probably, we'll see many other software solutions being pushed to the mobile platform in the near future, many similar with the great games that Gameloft has just announced as being on their way to the OS.
