Take a look!

Tropico was one of the most interesting titles of 2001. The premise of the game was so outlandish and yet so attractive that players sank a lot of hours developing the tropical paradise. The first game in the series is definitely better than the second; thus, the news that Kalypso Media is doing a third game, based on the idea presented by the original Tropico, was one of the best announcements of late 2008.

Now, Kalypso has taken a step forward in presenting the videogame by releasing the first screenshots of Tropico 3. You can take a look at the two images attached to the article to get an idea of how the new game will look. It seems that graphical quality will be top notch, with citizens being individually simulated and presented in full detail. Just take a look at that little girl sitting on the beach, it's almost as good looking as a character in the upcoming The Sims 3, which Electronic Arts is set to launch in June.

Development of Tropico 3 is being handled by Haemimont Games, which has also crated titles like Imperium Romanum and Grand Ages: Rome. The studio certainly has the chops needed to create a complex management simulation, even if Imperium Romanum was a bit underdeveloped in the gameplay mechanics department. Probably Tropico 3 will be a chance to apply the lessons that were learned while creating the two previous games in its portfolio.

Kalypso Media says that Tropico 3 will mimic the ideas presented in the first title in the series, allowing players a lot of choices while making sure that the feeling of the tropical island comes through the game. Multiplayer modes will be implemented in the release. The publisher states that Tropico 3 will arrive in late summer 2009. Let's hope that it manages to ship it on time.
