Robert Pattinson and Christoph Waltz get to work on “Water for Elephants”

Robert Pattinson hasn’t lost his ability to smolder. Just in case anyone was left wondering about said ability, the first trailer for the insanely anticipated “Water for Elephants” is here – and both Robert and Reese Witherspoon are gorgeous in it.

The film, which was shot earlier this year, doesn’t come out until April next year, but fans of both actors can have a first look at it with the first trailer release, which is also embedded at the end of the article.

Pattinson, who became a household name thanks to “The Twilight Saga,” is a veterinary student who runs away from home and ends up with a circus.

Here, he will meet the gorgeous and stylish Marlena Rosenbluth (Witherspoon) and fall irremediably for her. As it happens, she’s already married to August Rosenbluth (the brilliant and always unpredictable Christoph Waltz).

Problems ensue. Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Sara Gruen, the film is directed by Francis Lawrence (“I Am Legend,” and “Constantine”) and is set in the ‘30s.

As Marie Claire also points out, this is perhaps the most anticipated releases of the spring, since it features both Pattinson and Reese, though mostly the former.

As one can easily imagine, Twi-hards are thrilled by the trailer, saying Rob has never looked better and more sophisticated than he does in it.

“The romantic storyline sees Mr. Pattinson fall for dazzling performer Marlene – played by lovely Reese – who is married to the fierce circus ringleader, after they bond over circus Elephant Rosie,” Marie Claire writes.

“Cue some dramatic sequences, beautifully set scenes, and some serious smoldering on the part of Robert Pattinson. Phew!” the women’s mag further writes. Twi-hards across the world agree.

As noted above, “Water for Elephants” is out in April 2011. Below is the first trailer released – it’s come out just as Reese is promoting her latest flick “How Do You Know.” Enjoy.
