Perhaps one of the most anticipated and oft-delayed projects of recent years is “47 Ronin” from director Carl Rinsch, starring Keanu Reeves. It’s now a go for December 2013 and above is the first official trailer.

As noted, “47 Ronin” stars Reeves as leading man (an outcast who decides to unleash hell upon those who banished him), but also features appearances from Hiroyuki Sanada, Ko Shibasaki, Tadanobu Asano, Rinko Kikuchi, and Zombie Boy.

I love it that Zombie Boy has found a niche in the industry where he can grow as an artist. For those who don’t know him, his name is Rico Genest and he is a tattoo model.

He was featured in Lady Gaga’s music videos and has become a muse for fashion designer Thierry Mugler.

Back to the film, I would say the trailer looks pretty impressive as far as imagery goes, but I’m not entirely sold by the quality of some of the effects.

I also find it a bit distracting, in that so many explosions and action scenes make it hard to identify the characters and guess at their motivation. But we’ll see.

“47 Ronin” drops on December 25.
