Earlier this month, the first picture of an NVIDIA graphics card build on the 55nm version of the company's GT200 graphics processor emerged. According to recent details, the graphics card in question was actually a GeForce GTX 260, whose processor was shifted from the 65nm manufacturing technology to the more advanced 55nm. A full range of photos have just surfaced, showcasing the entire card stripped down of its cooling solution and exposed to the camera.

In a recent article on website Expreview, NVIDIA's upcoming 55nm-based GeForce GTX 260 graphics card built by the chip maker's partner Zotac is showcased in a series of detailed photos that reveal the card's “inner” beauty. Still boasting the large PCB, the card, which is slated to debut alongside the GTX295 sometime in January 2009, will be equipped with a dual-slot cooling solution, designed to effectively reduce heat on what still appears to be a rather large graphics processor.

According to specific details made available by the aforementioned website, the new GeForce GTX 260 has been designed to provide users with no less than 896MB memory running on a 448-bit interface, and with a memory bandwidth of 112GB/s. As for the frequencies, the card is slated to come out with core speeds of 575/2000MHz for GPU and memory, respectively. As with the current, revised GeForce GTX 260, the upcoming card will also boast the 216 Stream Processors.

NVIDIA's shift to the 55nm process technology has been expected for quite some time, but it is only now that it definitely looks like the chip maker will join its competitor, AMD, in the 55nm-based product range. Aside from yet another refresh to its mainstream GeForce GTX260 card, the Santa Clara, California-based chip maker is also expected to unveil a new flagship model that will boast two GT200 graphics processors, and will be officially known as the GTX 295. This card is said to provide just enough power to allow NVIDIA to reclaim the top performance spot in the market.
