The “Sin City” film is about to become a franchise, as the sequel to the successful Frank Miller-inspired movie will be hitting theaters this summer. In anticipation of the event, a first set of promo photos has been released.

The movie is called “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” and it's going to see Jessica Alba reprise her role as exotic dancer Nancy Callahan, and Mickey Rourke return in the role of Marv. Other familiar figures from the 2005 original film will include Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson and Jaime King.

But there are also new additions to the cast, such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is going to star as the gambler Johnny, Eva Green as Ava Lord, and Juno Temple as Sally. Josh Brolin is tapped to replace Clive Owen in the role of Dwight McCarthy, with Lady Gaga making an appearance in a small role called “The Waitress.”

The script is based on Frank Miller's comic short “Just Another Saturday Night,” according to Digitalspy, along with two freshly created storylines.

Fans of the original film will be thrilled to know that Miller is making a return to the director's chair, as he helms this production with the help of Robert Rodriguez.

Speaking about the movie which was completed for a while now and was actually supposed to come out last year, Joseph Gordon-Levitt said that he was “stoked” to see the finished product.

He also mentioned that the movie would hold surprises even for those fans who had read the books, “They wanted to have a movie where fans of the books would still be able to look forward to something new and unexpected, so they added a story.”

“Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For” is billed to be released in cinemas across the United States on August 22, and starting with August 29 in Europe.
