Although she's no stranger to the screen, Selena Gomez makes a break from her singing career to appear in the teenage comedy film called “Behaving Badly,” which has just released its first trailer. Fans of the singer are surely going to be delighted to see their idol earning her acting chops.

The movie is nothing to write home about, just your typical high school comedy, featuring the never-ending bout between popular kids and nerds, teenagers looking to party and the police, and the frustrations of growing up.

During the trailer, you're going to see Selena getting hauled away by police in handcuffs as things heat up during a house party. She can be heard saying at one point, “This is the most exciting thing I've ever done!”

In the movie, she plays Nina Pennington, a popular girl from high school, who draws the attention and affection of Rick Stevens, played by Rick Wolf. The movie details his efforts to win her heart. Oddly enough, the boy is forced to fight off the advances of a cougar played by Elizabeth Shue as well as those of an attractive defense lawyer played by Heater Graham.

The movie is based on the novel “While I'm Dead Feed the Dog” written by Ric Browde, and it's scheduled to hit theaters this summer, on August 1. Apart from actors we've already mentioned, you're also going to see Dylan McDermott, Mary-Louise Parker, Gary Busey, and Jason Lee.
