When Robert Rodriguez announced a while back that he’d be overseeing the production and release of a “Predator” reboot, fans were skeptic because, frankly, the last thing the world needs is another bad remake, they said at the time. Subsequent weeks showed that “Predators,” which would hopefully kick-start the franchise once more, might actually turn out to be a surprising winner this summer. Now, fans have the chance to see “Predator.”

In March this year, Rodriguez introduced the first clip from the film. Other teasers followed shortly afterwards, including photos and plenty of details about the film. One thing that was never revealed, AceShowbiz says, was how Predator will look, though fans do catch a glimpse of it in the official trailer. Widescreen magazine has now a first look at the killer alien and, as promised, it’s an exact replica of the one that appeared in the original movie with Schwarzenegger.

“A lot of pictures and sneak peek videos for ‘Predators’ have been released, but none of them shows the classic predator. However, German film magazine Widescreen is lucky to get the first picture of the character portrayed by Derek Mears and displays it on the cover of its latest edition. As it has been known, beside presenting new and varied kinds of alien creatures, the Nimrod Antal-directed film will also include the original design of the predator. This classic predator was first seen in the original ‘Predator’ film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger,” AceShowbiz writes.

“Serving as a reboot of the sci-fi franchise, upcoming ‘Predators’ will follow Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who come to realize they’ve been brought together on an alien planet as prey. It was shot in Hawaii and is planned to be unleashed in the US on July 9. Adrien Brody leads with the likes of Alice Braga, Topher Grace, Danny Trejo and Laurence Fishburne among those who try to survive on the alien planet. Robert Rodriguez produces it alongside Elizabeth Avellan, and teams up with Alex Litvak as well as Michael Finch to write the script,” the e-zine further says.

As we also noted in October last year, Adrien Brody is risking a lot by coming out with a movie of the kind. In fact, some believe, he may actually be throwing chances for an Oscar out the window, for, with “Predators,” he will boost his box office appeal but will no longer be so highly considered by critics.
