It’s always hard for an actor to play a real-life person / star, but it was twice as difficult for Naomi Watts to bring to life on the big screen one of the most loved public figures of modern times, the late Princess Di.

However, by the looks of the first teaser trailer for “Diana” released hours ago, she does the role justice.

For a 1-minute teaser, this video actually includes plenty of footage (though zero dialog), including of highly mediated moments in the Princess’ life, both public and private.

“Diana” is directed by Olivier Hirschbiegel from a script by Steven Jeffreys, and also stars Naveen Andrews, whom “Lost” fans are sure to recognize.

The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival first, where it earned rave reviews. It will be out in theaters around the world this fall.
