Tori Spelling’s personal life might be a mess, allegedly, but at least she’s still getting constant work. As rumored many months ago, she and her former “Beverly Hills 90210” pal and onscreen best friend Jennie Garth are set to return to the small screen with a new cop series / sitcom.

It’s called “Mystery Girls” and a short trailer for it has just been released and is available above. It will premiere on June 25 on ABC Family and, if the pilot fares well with audiences, it will be picked up for a full season.

ABC Family says that “Mystery Girls” will find humor in putting two women in a situation they seem overwhelmed by: Garth plays a “suburban wife and mother,” while Spelling is an actress who “longs for her glory days in the ‘90s when she was on television.”

As fate would have it, they’re thrown together to solve a murder mystery and, while they might come across as very unsuitable for the job, my hunch is they’ll do just fine.

From this brief preview, I get very strong “V.I.P.” vibes, that show in the late ‘90s in which Pamela Anderson played the head of a PI agency even though she had no idea how to run a business, let alone conduct an investigation and apprehend a criminal.

Which is to say, it doesn’t look good but, then again, the teaser is only 10 seconds long.
