Verizon is switching to a more daring approach on the market

Some leaked images showed the real face of the Samsung SCH-U470 handset and not an edited image of it. From what it looks, the phone is Verizon branded, which means that it will soon hit this carrier's store.

It is quite surprising to see this device heading towards this specific network, as it will have to join a range of more conservatory looking mobile phones. No harm in that, as any change is more than welcomed, especially as it brings more diversity in this carrier's offer. This is certainly a risky move, as it's quite an extreme design for North America.

Samsung SCH-U470 brings an innovative design, with slim sizes, both in thickness and width. This makes it resemble more of a stick, highly similar to the SGH-X830 model in this producer's line of devices. It brings a tiny display screen capable of supporting a resolution of 128 x 220 and rotative slider for making the best of every inch of its surface. It even has an iPod-like navigation wheel that makes this phone look more like an MP3 player than a communication device. Still, it also manages to pack some evolved handset features too.

The camera on this phone should have at least 2 megapixels in power. Still, Samsung SCH-U470 sticks to the hints that its appearance gives and makes more of a music phone than anything else. It should also be capable of supporting V Cast Music services and brings hours and hours of entertainment to its user. The phone will also include Bluetooth connectivity and a microSD card slot, for making sure that the user has just about enough data storage space.

Samsung SCH-U470 should be available at Verizon Wireless starting 2008, although an exact date has not been revealed yet.
