Live-action adaptations of famous fairytales are the thing right now in cinema, and Disney is working hard to deliver as many of them as possible, over the shortest span of time. After the massive success of “Maleficent” with Angelina Jolie, this December will bring another production bound for box office greatness.

It has been in the works for a couple of years and includes a bevy of huge stars, which probably explains all the buzz around it. With the first official teaser trailer, you get a glimpse at all of them.

Well, you get a glimpse at almost all of them, because you only see Johnny Depp’s hand. He plays the Big Bad Wolf and I’m guessing the reason this trailer doesn’t show him is that Disney is saving the big reveal of his costume for later.

Meryl Streep plays the Witch, but there’s also Anna Kendrick as Cinderella, Emily Blunt as the Baker’s Wife, Chris Prince as Cinderella’s Prince (of course he’s the Prince, who else would be better for the part?), and James Corden is the Baker.

All these characters have something they ardently wish, hence the tagline of the film “Be careful what you wish for.”

“Into the Woods” will be released on December 25, 2014 and is based on the famous 1986 Broadway musical of the same name by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine. It is directed by Rob Marshall, whose previous work includes “Chicago,” “Memoirs of a Geisha,” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.”
