Apple mocked over iPhone 4 reception issues

It comes as no surprise that everyone is trying to capitalize (read: “get attention”) on the hype surrounding iPhone 4 reception issues. While some design cases for the device, hoping people will rush out to grab them in an attempt to boost their signal strength, others simply mock the situation where Apple is in at the moment, and for good reason too, may we add.

A person identified as petermorgan.uk over at Flickr has uploaded what he describes as, “An exclusive preview of the new iPhone 5, set to have much improved reception compared to the iPhone 4.” Originally spotted by OSXDaily, the image is nothing more than a jab at Apple’s lagging response to the widespread claims that iPhone 4 is having reception problems, but one that delivers a strong message.

For those who are not in the loop, as they say, Apple seems to find itself in an unfortunate development of events, following the much hyped iPhone 4 launch. Although the phone is truly breathtaking from a design point of view, an increasing number of complaints regarding its ability to connect to carrier towers (in certain situations) is making it difficult for Apple to come out with a clean face.

The Cupertino, California based electronics maker has issued a public statement admitting there is something wrong with the iPhone 4, but outlined that wireless reception was not it. Instead, Apple pushed a simpler theory onto visitors of its PR section, saying, “We have discovered the cause of this dramatic drop in bars, and it is both simple and surprising.” Apple explained that, “Upon investigation, we were stunned to find that the formula we use to calculate how many bars of signal strength to display is totally wrong.” The company then confirmed that a software fix was on the way, adding that “The real signal strength remains the same, but the iPhone’s bars will report it far more accurately, providing users a much better indication of the reception they will get in a given area.”
