Podcasting started getting big a little over a year ago, and it's gotten to the point where we are about to witness the first ever podcasting conference.

The Portable Media Expo and Podcasting Conference is taking place this Friday and Saturday, and is located in Ontario, Calif., east of Los Angeles. This is the only industry event that brings together influential podcasters, media, content creators and device makers to cover the complete range of business, marketing and legal issues for portable audio & video.

The program of the conference features expert "how to" sessions, expert panel discussions, a combination of keynotes, and lots of audience participation, the entire event being devoted to the industry of creating, delivering, and profiting from unique digital content for portable devices.

Over the course of the two days, podcasting luminaries such as Doug Kaye of IT Conversations and representatives of traditional broadcast media, like Robert Spier of National Public Radio Online will be participating in various seminars. On Friday afternoon, Macworld and Playlist editors Dan Frakes and Chris Breen will hold a one-hour seminar on the secrets of iTunes and the iPod.

The technically inclined will be glad to hear about the "Podcasting and Advanced Post Production on the Macintosh Platform", which will be hosted by Paul Figgiani of The.Point Podcast on Saturday. Also, Bryan Walls from NASA will be hosting a seminar on the Science@NASA podcasts.

The final event scheduled for the exposition is a seminar by Michael Geoghegan of Reel Reviews on how to make money from podcasts. Geohagen is also the author of "Podcast Solutions: The Complete Guide to Podcasting" and was hired by Disney to produce podcasts about Disneyland.
