There’s a new vampire movie coming our way and, this time, it features the most famous undead / bloodsucker of all times, Dracula aka Prince Vlad Tepes with an unnatural thirst for blood and superhuman powers.

Unlike in Bram Stoker’s novel or in the most famous feature film based on it, the 1992 film with Gary Oldman, Keanu Reeves, and Wynona Rider, this Dracula we’ll see in “Dracula Untold” is an entirely different breed of monster.

The first trailer, which leaked some hours ago, is embedded below.

You might call it an origin story, because it focuses on the events that took place before the Prince was turned into a vampire, but you could also call it a retelling, because the reason he became a creature of the night differs from the one in the novel / aforementioned film.

This Dracula makes a pact with a very evil creature because he’s desperate to save his family and his people, and he simply believes he has no other choice but to sell his soul for it. Originally, the Prince became a vampire after the death of his fiancée, as punishment for cursing God and denouncing religion.

From the looks of this first trailer, the film will play more like an action movie. “Dracula Untold” is directed by Gary Shore and also stars Dominic Cooper and Sarah Gadon, and will be out in October.
