Movie studios have put out many franchises along the years and some of them still enjoy a large following. “Resident Evil,” starring model / actress Milla Jovovich is also among them, which is why the latest reports making the rounds on the Internet can’t but be good news for the fans of the film. A fourth installment is now in the works, extremely reliable sources tell Joblo.

Two years after the third film came out, “Resident Evil: Extinction,” it seems that producers are already hard at work to come up with a fourth flick. However, whether Milla will agree to take on the Alice character once more is not yet certain but, as many fans have already pointed out, her refusing to reprise her role would mean, more or less, too drastic a change to please the public.

Since the aforementioned website is giving such seemingly informed specifics, several movie-oriented publications say, this could at least be classified as a rumor worthy of the attention of the fans. At the same time, it should make do for the time being, until some sort of confirmation of a fourth film is delivered.

“Paul Anderson wrote the screenplay but he is not coming back to direct. The screenplay is more akin to RE2 in terms of style, but with better dialogue. The overall tone is also very dark. There’s enough hand to hand fights in the script for them to bring in a martial arts choreographer. Patrick Tatopoulos (R3) will be in charge of the creature effects and they will have a new Special FX supervisor (in terms of the practical effects) - Michael Lantieri (Jurassic Park 3).” a recent post on Joblo reads.

Moreover, even if the main star is still not attached yet, it seems that things are moving fast in the right direction. “The script is complete (they're at Draft 2) and they’re going to start casting before making any more script changes. So far, they will be filming in Toronto and Tokyo. Toronto will actually front for Alaska. They will be hiring a director once they have Milla officially signed back on.” Joblo claims.

Since the source that tipped Joblo does seem to know a lot about the upcoming, and yet unannounced film, chances are all of the above is actually accurate. Stay tuned here for more details.
