We've recently informed you that Eye-Fi had entered a partnership with Lexar, the latter adopting the former's wireless technology for one of its own cards. However, that hasn't stopped Eye-Fi from updating its offerings, and the company has just announced at Photokina that it will make some enhancements to its family of Eye-Fi cards, this way rendering the upload of digital photos from camera to computer twice as fast.

Although the transfer speed upgrade is free, Eye-Fi users will also be able to benefit from a few premium services, available via the Eye-Fi Manager Web application. For example, for around 10 dollars, they can send photos directly from their camera to one of more than 20 supported online photo sharing, printing, social networking or blogging sites using a wireless network.

And since we're on the subject, it's also important to mention that, from now on, Eye-Fi users will be able to upload photos directly to Apple’s MobileMe and AdoramaPix photo sharing services. MobileMe members can send photos from their camera directly to their MobileMe Gallery which can then be viewed by friends and family on the Web, iPhone, iPod touch and Apple TV. Moreover, users with registered accounts will also be able to upload photos directly from their camera to AdoramaPix, where they can edit, share and make prints.

Additionally, owners of Eye-Fi Home or Share cards can also add geotagging support to their cards (for 15 bucks), while those who have Eye-Fi Share cards can upgrade them (also for 15 US dollars) in order to automatically upload photos at more than 10,000 Wayport hotspots and through open hotspots.

All the improvements to Eye-Fi's services will be fully implemented by October 5, and users who want to purchase the 2 GB wireless SD cards can still do so through the company's usual retail channels.
