Mozilla announced a few weeks ago the launch of Firefox Mobile for Android and Maemo-based devices, a mobile browser known as Fennec. Following the arrival of Firefox Mobile (Fennec) 4.0 beta 1, we should get ready for the near availability of a Beta 2 flavor of the browser before the end of this month.

According to Mozilla's Wiki, the Fennec 4.0 Beta 2 release should land as soon as October 28th, while being followed by the Fennec 4.0 Beta 3 iteration on December 7.

Provided that all things would go according to plan, we should be able to install either a release candidate or a final version of the mobile browser in early 2011.

Of course, these are only planned release dates, and nothing is certain until the actual software solution is pushed to handsets out there, but there are great chances that things would actually go this way.

Back in early 2010, Mozilla promised that a beta version of its Firefox Mobile browser for handsets running under Google's Android OS would arrive before the end of the ongoing year, and we're already there.

The company proved it can deliver new releases in due time, and Fennec 4.0 Beta 2 might indeed hit Android and Maemo devices on October 28.

The software solution comes with a wide range of features similar to those present on the desktop version of the browser.

According to Mozilla, it aims at enabling users to benefit from a similar experience across devices.

“Take Firefox with you anywhere. Built on the same engine as Firefox 4 for the desktop, Firefox 4 beta for Android and Maemo is packed full of your favorite features like Sync, Add-ons and the Awesome Bar. Enjoy a personalized and seamless browsing experience across multiple devices,” the company notes on its website.

October 28 is not far at all, so stay tuned to learn specific info on what the next version of Firefox for Android would arrive with.
