The new add-on works only under Firefox 3

Everyone can agree on that Firefox 3 is off the charts, as far as coolness goes. There's even a new addition for Mac, a plug-in, which allows PDF-viewing right from within the browser. You can also save the PDF, if you wish, but the ability to view it in the web browser saves precious time, especially if you need this feature quite often.

Available right HERE, this Firefox extension works only with the latest version of the Mozilla's popular web browser, Firefox 3. To install the plug-in, do the following:

1- download the Firefox-Mac-PDF from the link provided above; 2- open the Add-ons pane in Tools -> Add-ons; 3- drag the just-downloaded Firefox-Mac-PDF (.xpi file) in there; 4- you should be prompted to answer yes or no to install the Firefox-Mac-PDF plugin; 5- restart Firefox.

Now you should be able to view PDFs right from within Firefox.

Before installing the new plug-in was an option, the only way users could view a page in PDF format was by saving it to their computer's hard drive. With this new plug-in, especially crafted for Mac, Firefox users can view pages as PDFs with one click, right within the browser. Saving the PDF to your computer is equally simple ? just hit CMD + S and you'll be prompted to select a name and save location for your PDF.

Some say the Firefox-Mac-PDF is available for Firefox 3 under Mac OS 10.5, utilizing the built-in PDF support in OS X to display PDFs in-browser. Others say Tiger will also get you there. I didn't get the chance to test it out on Tiger yet (the only one I can get my hands on is at home) so I can?t say for sure. The add-on also supports "all the same keyboard shortcuts and you get the standard Mac OS PDF contextual menu when you control-click on a displayed PDF," according to Mac OS X Hints.

Firefox-Mac-PDF uses PDFKit to display PDFs in the browser.
