It just so happens that firefighters in California, US, had a rather busy weekend, and not because they had an army of flames to put out or anything of the sorts. No, Sir, what kept them busy was a woman stuck inside a chimney.

That's right, it appears that, this past weekend, a team of firefighters in Woodcrest, California, spent a couple of hours not battling flames but doing their best to free a middle-aged lady who accidentally got stuck inside a chimney while trying to be romantic.

How the incident played out

The police officers in charge of investigating this case say that, early Saturday morning, at about 5 a.m., the woman, identified only as a 35-year-old mother of three, decided to pay her ex-boyfriend, who is also the father of her children, a home visit.

Having arrived at the man's house, the woman simply tried to let herself in. Unfortunately, the door was locked and her ex-boyfriend wasn't too eager to get out of bed and welcome her in. Hence, she decided to try another approach.

The 35-year-old got rid of all her clothes and tried to get inside her ex-boyfriend's house through the chimney. She removed her clothes not so much to make sure that she would make an impression when she reached her destination, but to have an easier time going down.

The thing is that, even without any clothes on, the woman still got stuck inside the 12-by-12-inch (30.5-by-30.5-centimeter) chimney. When she finally figured out that she was in serious trouble, she started crying out for help. The man she hoped to surprise heard her and contacted authorities.

It took firefighters 2 hours to free her

Metro tells us that, at first, the woman's ex-boyfriend attempted to get her out of the chimney himself, with the help of an extension cord. This did not work. In fact, the firefighters who eventually freed the woman had to demolish the man's fireplace in order to get to her.

The good news is that, although she spent several hours trapped inside her ex-boyfriend's chimney, the woman did not suffer any serious injuries. One can only hope that, the next time she decides to visit her former love, she will wait for him to open the door and not try to take him by surprise again.

In case anyone was wondering, it looks like the 35-year-old will not have to answer in front of a court of law for this little stunt. Thus, there is no news that her former boyfriend and the father of her children might be considering pressing charges against her.
