If you have dreamed of becoming a super hero ever since you were a little kid, now you have the chance to see what you’d look like in the shoes of Superman or Wonder Woman.

How does the magic happen? Well, by bringing the helping, yet creative hand of 3D printing into the picture.

In charge of all this wonder is Firebox, a start-up that set up a service that lets comics enthusiasts 3D print a replica of their head which can be then mount on the muscular body of a justice-bringer.

Those of you who are tempted by the opportunity can choose to have your head snapped on the body of Captain America, Iron Man, Cat Woman, Thor or Wonder Woman. And since we told you the head is detachable, you can try and see which alter-ego suits you best, one at a time.

Don’t be disappointed, the list of action heroes isn’t that expensive. If you happen to own a figurine (maybe Batman or Wolverine), Firebox is more than happy to 3D print your head, without making you pay for an additional body. The trouble is you’ll have to decapitate your action figure.

So you might be wondering what you need to do to see your head go 3D. Well, not much, the procedure is quite simple.

To get started, you’ll have to email Firebox and submit two photos of yourself so they can see what your head looks like, one should be a frontal picture and the other in profile.

The company also asks you to have your mouth closed and your hair should be kept out of the face, in order to simplify the 3D portraiture process.

Firebox will then try their best to match your hair and eye color and find the best hairdo replica they have at their disposal. Users can order their head in three distinct sizes, including small, medium and large.

The smallest replica will be suited for Lego figures, the medium one for 6-inch / 15 cm heroes, while the large version will play nice with 12-inch / 30 cm figures.

Since Firebox is using just two pictures to 3D print the head model, don’t expect the outcome to be a perfect replica of your face.

For example, the shape of the face might vary, but the characteristic features of the individual are maintained, so it will be easy to recognize a certain person.

Firebox is a UK-based company that surely loves weird things, as they are even willing to sell you some pretty cute Zombie slippers, too.

Anyway, those who want to see what it’s like to be turned into an awesome 3D hero will have to pay $136 / €99 in order to do so. It surely costs a lot to have some fun, these days.
