Google News is surely one of the most popular news services on the Internet because it provides instant access to more than 4.500 sources of information directly from a single webpage. Today, the company announces a new flavor of the Google News product that is now available in Hindi. If you didn't know, Hindi is an Indo-European language with almost 790 million speakers, being one of the official languages in India. Because it is so supported, Google decided to create a special version of the News product, allowing all the Hindi speakers to read news provided by numerous Hindi news sources using a simple and a single web interface.

"Google News gathers news stories from the various Hindi news sources on the web and presents a ranked one-page summary with all the links to your favorite news sources in the various sections. One of the interesting challenges we faced in this edition was the fact that not all our Hindi news sources are in UTF-8 format. Though we strongly back and urge the adoption of the Unicode-based UTF-8 standard by all Indian language websites, we didn't want to deprive our readers from reaching content on some of their favourite news sources which are not yet there," Vinodh Kumar R, Software Engineer, sustained on the official blog of Google.

In the past, the search giant released multiple versions of Google News but the company encountered a lot of problems caused by these regional editions of the service. The best example is represented by a Belgian case concerning Google, multiple newspapers deciding to sue the company because their headlines were published without their authorization. A Belgian court ordered Google to remove all the information provided by the publications and to avoid publishing more titles created by the Belgian newspapers.
