First announced in September 2006, Phase One have come up today with the final release of their Capture One 4 RAW workflow software, which offers new features and also promises faster processing speeds.

The application sports a new user interface aimed at maximizing the image space with and with a darker background that permits easier viewing and enhancements.

Photographers can now view and work with up to 12 images simultaneously at full resolution and multiple variants of a single RAW image can be made with virtually no disk and performance overhead. Also, detail recovery in highlights and shadows can be achieved with the help of the high dynamic range control.

Other features include: management and transfer of license codes (so Capture One 4 can be used on one computer one day and on another computer the next), the ability to import and export images in DNG format, for more options to share and archive and powerful new shortcut architecture that allows faster image import, adjustment and processing.

"Capture One excels at RAW workflow," said Jan H. Christiansen, marketing director for Phase One. "Today, it is no less an art to develop digital images than to process film in the darkroom. Ours is not an 'end-to-end' solution, but devoted to helping photographers achieve the highest quality from the images they have captured," he added.
