Square Enix showed off some of the new areas in the upcoming Final Fantasy XV at the Taipei Game Show this weekend, and did so using a novel approach.

The team decided to showcase some of the environments using a camera following a cat around, in order to avoid spoilers regarding the actual game, but the decision might have been Square Enix's undoing.

The cam feature will most likely be one of the things that the community will ask for now, due to the fact that cats are adorable, and that opening that particular can of worms can't really be undone.

The cat cam follows the use of a dog cam in a prior environmental showcase, during which Square Enix used a similar approach, showing off some normally inaccessible areas, in order to avoid spoilers but still be able to show some stuff.

There are two videos showing how cats look, move, and do other cat stuff in Final Fantasy XV, and now everyone is likely ignoring all the backgrounds shown and hoping to get a cute pet in the upcoming role-playing game. Who cares what train stations look like anyway?

The company also revealed that Final Fantasy XV was being developed with the help of XPEC Entertainment, a Taiwan-based publishing and development firm that also did work on the Shrek Forever After and Kung Fu Panda video games.

Final Fantasy XV is currently in development, scheduled to come for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One computer entertainment systems. There is no prospective release date for the game yet, and Square Enix dropped some hints that the game might eventually also make its way to PC, although nothing is certain at this point.
