14 DAY TRIAL // The upcoming Final Fantasy XV is expected to be a bit different than most of the other titles in the series. The fifteenth installment in the Final Fantasy series will be a lot darker and relations between characters will be more attuned to those in the real world.
The game has already been confirmed to arrive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but its development hasn’t been without ups and downs.
In development since 2006, the game was originally under the supervision of Tetsuya Nomura, but as of this year, Final Fantasy XV’s directorial duties have been given to Hajime Tabata who was co-director of the game.
Final Fantasy XV will be the first game in the series to be fully developed with Square Enix’s Luminous middleware engine. The game’s release date has yet to be announced, but everyone expects Square Enix to aim at 2015 for the launch of Final Fantasy XV.
The next game might compete with Final Fantasy XIV
However, it looks like Square Enix has a few surprises in store for Final Fantasy fans. Apart from the upcoming release of Final Fantasy XV, the company plans to launch an online game related to the fifteenth installment in the series.
As DualShockers points out, the information has been recently confirmed by a job announcement that specifies Square Enix is seeking candidates for a job that would imply “planning of a new online game related to Final Fantasy XV.”
The problem is that Square Enix already has an online game in the Final Fantasy setting and another one will create an unwanted competition between the two titles.
Perhaps Square Enix is thinking to add an online aspect to the single-player Final Fantasy XV where players might be able to enlist the help of other players to take down certain bosses.
It’s unclear what the new project could be, but we know for sure Square Enix is likely to announce another online game in the Final Fantasy universe. What would you like to see?
