The development team working on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn at Square Enix announces that it is launching a new event for the MMO, called Little Ladies’ Day, which is designed to celebrate the coming of spring and the various worldwide days dedicated to women.

The main elements of the game event involve the crafting of dolls, which are designed to remind people of Princess Edyva, one of the legendary characters of the universe.

The team explains in an official announcement that, “Rich rewards await the most creative craftsman of the contest, and talk of a fame and fortune is now hot on everyone's lips. Such is the secret behind the guild's recent boom in business, as doll-dressers across the realm seek only the most magnificent models with which to realize their aesthetic aspirations.”

The team adds, “The dolls will thence be dressed in glorious garb, and a winner will be chosen by the mirthful maidens of each city-state who will cast their vote for their favorite of these fetching figurines.”

Square Enix says that gamers will have to look hard for the resources they will need to craft dolls because the entire world of the game is affected by shortages, with the stalls of Ruby Road empty of their stock.

The official update from the company also offers a rich piece of lore that will appeal to fans of the Final Fantasy universe.

The MMO has been very profitable for Square Enix over the last year, which is probably a relief, given the bugs and the limited performance that affected the MMO when it was first delivered to players.

The game is designed to appeal to all those who appreciate the unique Japanese role-playing mechanics of the franchise and want to interact with other players who share the same interests.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will get more events during 2014 and the team at Square Enix has long-term plans to update some core mechanics and deliver more content.

At the same time, a separate team at the publisher is working on the single-player-focused Final Fantasy XV, which is set to be launched on the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft.

The game is expected to deliver a modern-day story and will use an entirely new battle system, with more details probably set to be offered during the coming E3 2014 event.
