Yoshinori Kitase, who is the main producer working on Final Fantasy XIII-2, has detailed the perks that players will get as long as they play the game using a save game file that was created in the original title, including a bonus that offers gamers special monster decorations and a park that allows them to have a better success rate when engaging in gambling.

It’s not clear whether players can use any kind of saved game from Final Fantasy XIII or if they need one where they finished the game story.

Motomu Toriyama, who is the director working on the game, also revealed that each episode of XIII-2 will take around three hours to complete for the average players and that the game now has an autosave feature in order to make sure that players never lose progress because of outside factors.

The new Final Fantasy game also has a Game Plus mode that allows anyone who completes the main story to get another go at the game and get new monster decorations and more items to unlock and equip for the various characters.

Sources from Japanese stores are also saying that publisher Square Enix has shipped 1 million copies of Final Fantasy XIII-2, which is a little lower than the initial shipment for the original game, and a smaller number of Xbox 360 game copies.

Reports are also saying that the Japanese magazine Famitsu, the most influential source for reviews, has awarded Final Fantasy XIII-2 a perfect 40 out of 40 score, something that only The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword from Nintendo and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim from Bethesda have managed this year.

The Japanese launch date for the Square Enix Japanese role playing game flagship is set for December 15 and Western gamers will be able to get the game in late January and early February, with fully translated voice work.
