14 DAY TRIAL // Final Fantasy fans rejoice, as Square Enix has just released Final Fantasy VI on iOS platform. As expected, the game is available for quite a high price, but franchise’s addicts will probably consider it just fine for their gaming purposes.
For the time being, the bad news is that only iOS users in New Zealand can purchase the game, but at least the presence of Final Fantasy VI on App Store is an indication that Square Enix plans to make it available worldwide really soon.
Final Fantasy VI for iOS comes with the option to save your game with iCloud, so that you can share your progress on multiple devices.
The graphics are said to have been recreated. According to developers, “Kazuko Shibuya, one of the graphics designers involved in the FINAL FANTASY series from the very start, personally worked on the main characters and supervised the recreation of the game's graphics.”
Obviously, some of the events included in the original game have been optimized so that they can be played with user-friendly touch controls.
In addition, the smartphone release has been confirmed to include the new magicites, as well as events that were introduced in the 2006 remake.
Assuming you have access to New Zealand’s App Store, you can now download Final Fantasy VI for iOS for $19.99 via App Store. Keep in mind that the game should be fully compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices powered by iOS 7 or later.
However, Square Enix recommends iOS users to play Final Fantasy VI on iPhone 4S or later, and iPad 2 or later, respectively.
Those who do not own one of the recommended devices may want to tweak the game for a better gameplay experience. It looks like “certain in-game conditions may cause the app to close unexpectedly on iPhone 4.”
In order to avoid that, simply take the following precautions when playing: save your game data regularly, close the game via the multitasking display after exiting.
