Angry customers who rely on Final Cut, some even to make a living, have taken to the company’s forums to demand refunds saying Final Cut Pro X is nothing more than a blown-up iMovie.

Kevin Lewis gives Final Cut Pro X 2 stars and reviews the software on the Mac App Store saying "I love the idea of 64bit editing and all of the other features, but the basics for pros are gone. The interface is big and chunky like iMovie.

Over at Apple Support Communities, a thread written in caps “APPLE - GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK!!!!!” hits you in the face.

User Dan Hyman, who claims to put bread on the table by editing video, says “This is not a Final Cut Pro piece of editing software.”

“This is iMovie with some enhanced features, hence the ability to import older iMovie projects, but not Final Cut Pro projects.”

Hyman believes Final Cut Pro X is “a joke of a ‘pro’ app and Apple should stand up and take the punch to the stomach.”

Hyman claims he runs his business on FCP and has been for 8 years. To him, Final Cut Pro X is unacceptable.

Others express a similar degree of discontent.

However, the situation may not be all that bad, if recent news reports are to be believed.

Apple reportedly plans to add all the missing features in future updates to Final Cut Pro X.

According to a video production blogger, Apple said that features like the ability to import Final Cut Pro 6 and 7 projects will be added in incremental software updates.

A replacement for the current XML workflow and multicam editing support will also be provided.

The updates are said to be semestral and they will be distributed through the Mac App Store.

This may not be of much comfort to the likes of Hyman, but at least they know they didn’t pluck $300 for a useless piece of editing software.
