Video editor pays amazing tribute to a year in cinema

Each year, video editor Nick Bosworth from JoBlo releases a mashup / tribute of the movies released in the last 12 months. 2014 is no exception, and his video Final Cut 2014 is of the kind that can’t but touch a movie buff’s heart.

If you recognize more than 70 percent of the scenes included here, welcome to the club.

Some of this year’s movies were trashed by fans, and some by critics, and some by both, actually. Some delivered amazing action scenes, others questionable GCI but good acting, others solid performances. Some were pure popcorn fare, others Oscar material.

All of them are included in this tribute video, which features footage from no less than 330 movies released in 2014. It’s been a good year overall, with the good and bad together. And Michael Bay.

“Another year has passed and it has been a memorable one folks. 2014 gave us many incredible films from every genre you can think of and I will once again honor the people behind them and their immense efforts by showcasing 330 films that released during the past year. I thank you all for watching and look forward to an even better 2015,” Bosworth says in the description of the video.

From “Birdman” and “Whiplash” to superhero (and mutant) movies, to dramas, comedies, and animations, 2014 had something to offer for everyone out there. Again, some productions were of inferior quality compared to others, but they all had something special in their attempt at offering entertainment, escapism.

We often forget it, but filmmaking is an art. Nowhere else is that more apparent than in the video below. Here’s to a better 2015!
