People in touch with Apple are reporting that the latest OS X 10.6.5 build seeded to developers has reached pre-release status, with a select number of developers having access to a finished Mac OS X 10.6.5.

World of Apple is recalling that Apple released another build of Mac OS X 10.6.5 to developers over the past weekend.

Notably, build 10H568 comes six days after the previous release.

The site’s sources reportedly informed that “build 10H568 has gone pre-release with a select number of developers having access to what looks like the final build of Mac OS X 10.6.5.”

According to these people, Mac OS X 10.6.5 build 10H568 is roughly 500 MB in size.

- improve reliability with Microsoft Exchange servers - address performance of some image-processing operations in iPhoto and Aperture - address stability and performance of graphics applications and games - resolve a delay between print jobs - address a printing issue for some HP printers connected to an AirPort Extreme - resolve an issue when dragging contacts from Address Book to iCal - address an issue where dragging an item from a stack causes the Dock to not automatically hide - resolve an issue with Wikipedia information not displaying correctly in Dictionary - improve performance of MainStage on certain Mac systems - resolve spacing issues with OpenType fonts - improve reliability with some Bluetooth braille displays - resolve a VoiceOver issue when browsing some web sites with Safari 5

In addition to these enhancements and fixes, the update should arrive packing a number of security patches as well.

Mac OS X 10.6.5 is the fifth maintenance and security update for Apple’s Snow Leopard operating system.

In tandem with ironing out bugs in the current OS X iteration, Apple is actively developing the next generation Mac OS X dubbed Lion.
