Electronic Arts has announced that it plans to release at least one piece of downloadable content for its boxing game, Fight Night Round 4, which was launched in late June and has performed very well in the charts since then. The game focuses on simulating the entire career of a boxer, either created from scratch or selected from a wide array of historical fighters.

The first DLC pack is set to arrive in early August and will be appearing simultaneously on both the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and on the PlayStation 3 from Sony. It will be adding a new training gym to the game, complete with fresh equipment that can be used to customize the look of your custom made fighter.

There are also what Electronic Arts describes as “new gameplay sliders,” which will probably offer more options for the player. Those who have bought Fight Night Round 4 on the Xbox 360 will be getting an alternate version of Sugar Ray Leonard, which is being offered by Pizza Hut.

Dean Richards, who is a senior producer on the title, stated that “The depth and variety of new content we have planned this summer is going to make one of the most critically acclaimed games on the market even better. Among the new content in development, our new button control scheme will give fans a choice for how they want to throw punches in the game. We strongly believe that the refined Total Punch Control is the most intuitive way to throw punches in Fight Night Round 4, but we also want fans of the franchise to have an option.”

Fight Night Round 4 is also set to get a free downloadable content pack sometime in September, allowing players on both consoles to use the face buttons on their controllers to execute a variety of in-game moves.
