Steam for Linux users can get a few interesting games

The Steam Summer Sale 2014 is powering on and the games keep on coming. The fifth day has brought the Linux players three games in the Daily Deals category.

The Linux titles promoted until now in the Daily Deals are not some of biggest this platform has to offer, but it's nice to see that at least a third of the featured games are Linux-compatible.

You have to keep in mind that those nine games that are discounted and featured on the first Steam page are not the only ones getting a price cut. There are also Flash sales, which change every eight hours. Also, most of the games in the library come with various price cuts that are not advertised.

FTL: Faster Than Light is a sim that allows users to control a spaceship during an important mission. You will be micro-managing the entire crew and you will try to stay alive against all odds. All the levels, enemy spawning points, solar systems, and events are procedurally generated, which means that no two playthroughs will be the same.

"In FTL you experience the atmosphere of running a spaceship trying to save the galaxy. It's a dangerous mission, with every encounter presenting a unique challenge with multiple solutions," say the devs on the official Steam website.

Rogue Legacy is also a procedurally generated game, but this is more like a 2D action platformer. The name of the game actually describes how things work in Rogue Legacy. Whenever your character dies in the game, your child takes over the adventure.

"Every child is unique. One child might be colorblind, another might have vertigo-- they could even be a dwarf. That's OK, because no one is perfect, and you don't have to be perfect to win this game. But you do have to be pretty darn good because this game is HARD," reads the synopsis.

The third game on the list is also the most bizarre. It's called Surgeon Simulator 2013 and players will have to perform some simple operations. The difficulty of the game is provided by the strange physics implemented and by the fact that most of the surgeries take place in various environments, like an ambulance, for example.

All the games listed above will be on sale for another day and a half. We can only hope that the next few promotions provide us with bigger, triple-A titles.
