Even if this seems to be a major publicity stunt to take advantage of the hype surrounding the release of the movie “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues,” it does look like a well-done stunt. Sadly, it only makes sense to those who have watched the first movie. If you're not among those “privileged,” then probably most of the puns used to promote this scotch will leave you… well, a bit dry.

Riviera Imports has just announced a new scotch, which they consider “kind of a big deal” - again, a tongue-in-cheek Ron Burgundy reference to the way the film's protagonist introduces himself at one point.

In fact, most of the press surrounding this particular type of scotch is full ofRon Burgundy references and innuendos, not just the name on the label printed on a (what else?) burgundy background.

The description speaks of a Blended Scotch Whisky actually from Scotland that's 60% malt and 40% grain blend made at St. Andrews Distillery from Speyside, Highlands and Islay whiskies. At $25.00 (€18.4) per bottle, it promises to be a treat for connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike, and definitely not just Ron Burgundy fans.

This bottle of “Great Odin's Raven Special Reserve” - you don't get any points for guessing who came up with that expression – is just the last in a series of Ron Burgundy inspired products that have been popping on the market, like the Ben & Jerry's new ice cream flavor of “Scotchy Scotch Schotch.”

If you're thinking of ordering a bottle of Ron Burgundy scotch and sipping a glass as you pop in your old DVD of the first installment, here is what you should know about Riviera spirits: the company focuses on importing and marketing spirits, wines and beers, mostly of independent brands.

This kind of promotional value comes to prove the lasting influence the first Ron Burgundy film had on the audience and it's also probably an indication of the success the second part is going to have at the box office.
