14 DAY TRIAL // PlayStation 3 racing fans will be able to enjoy a special downloadable game before Gran Turismo 5 comes out on November 2, in the form of Ferrari The Race Experience, which will hit the PlayStation Network on September 29.
Ferrari The Race Experience has been developed by studio System 3, and will be published as a digital download onto Sony's PlayStation Network next week, exclusively for the PlayStation 3 console.
According to System 3, all types of players will be able to download the game and experience getting behind the wheel of some of the fastest and most expensive Ferrari models in the world.
“We have spent over 18 months readying ourselves for a dramatic shift from physical games distribution to a streamlined business model and now we’re set to go with Ferrari The Race Experience with this, the world’s first premium AAA digital download game for PlayStation 3,” said Mark Cale, System 3’s CEO.
“One of the advantages of digital downloading is that we can remove the manufacturing costs of a physical product and thus enable us to offer this amazingly enhanced new game offering hours of enjoyment for under £12 (Euros 15).”
Among the models included in Ferrari The Race Experience we have the new and extremely popular 458 Italia supercar, as well as the 599XX prototype, which has only been tested on private tracks around Ferrair's headquarters in Maranello and on the famous Nurburgring in Germany.
Ferrari The Race Experience is a sequel to the Ferrari Challenge title that appeared two years ago, and those that already purchased that game will receive a discount for the new release, paying just £9.99 (12.99 Euros).
As any self respecting racing game, Ferrari The Race Experience has multiple difficulty settings, and lets players setup their own Ferrari car with settings for the handling or suspension.
If you've always wanted to drive a Ferrari but didn't get a chance up until now, System 3 says that Ferrari The Race Experience is the next best thing to hopping into a real life Italian supercar.
