As it happens, certain products sometimes take months to actually reach stores after their initial introduction, and it seems that one such device, courtesy of Team Group, has finally done so.

Back at Computex, Taipei this past summer, quite a number of different PCs and PC components were showcased, among other things.

Needless to say, Team Group was one of the participants, and its exhibition included a certain, very red storage unit.

Said unit was revealed to be called TP1023 and stood out among the rest of its kind through its unusual exterior.

Not only was the color red less than widespread, but the company even went for an overall shape inspired by Ferrari race cars.

The enclosure is not just there for show, however, as it also confers upon the HDD a high shock resistance, to the point where it was able to withstand its maker's 130 falling tests, mostly thanks to the suspension design that protects the platters within.

Now, this very product has made, or soon will make, its way to online stores, along with its high transfer speeds and large storage capacity.

One thing about it is that it comes in three versions, with capacities of 500, 640GB, 750GB and 1TB, respectively.

It also has a cache memory of 8 MB and a platter rotary speed of 5,400 RPM (rotations per minute).

There is also mention of an automatic suspend mode, meant to cut power draw, and all of these features are packed inside a chassis measuring 140.7 x 86.5 x 23.2 mm.

As for what truly makes it worthy of its Ferrari looks, Team Group used the USB 3.0 interface standard, which has a maximum theoretical transfer speed of 5 Gbps.

Unfortunately, the prices of the aforementioned 500 GB, 640 GB, 750 GB and 1 TB drives were not released.
