14 DAY TRIAL // Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas is Allure’s “Dancing Queen” for the month of July. Donning a series of swimsuits that show just how much she’s been working to get back in shape after having to gain weight for a movie part, the singer also reveals to the mag that she’s a true gym freak who would do anything to make sure she has the best body around.
Not that she needs to worry about this, one might as well add. Since the issue in question focuses on showing the world Fergie’s toned body, while also boasting of being the first cover to feature the singer with her darker ‘do, the swimsuits that made up the wardrobe for the shoot left little to the imagination. Fergie is toned and she’s proud of it, especially since it took her a while to get her body back.
“We were eating our brains out. We ordered everything fried, full of fat and salty.” Fergie tells Allure of how she and co-star Penelope Cruz packed on the pounds for the musical movie “Nine.” Once shooting was done, she found it very difficult dropping in sizes, as if she suddenly lacked the necessary motivation, which is why she turned to husband Josh Duhamel’s trainer for help. “It was a very gradual thing, getting back into it and finally letting a trainer train me. I didn’t want to be told what to do, and I wasn’t mentally ready to crack the whip.” the singer recollects.
While the photo spread also includes a couple of night looks – or at least the outtakes do – it is almost entirely dedicated to Fergie’s summer look. Moreover, she knew it was so from the start, the mag explains. When Allure creative director Paul Cavaco told her she must prepare herself for plenty of bathing suits when she stepped on the set, Fergie joked that, “Absolutely – I did 2,000 jump ropes this morning to prepare.” She might actually have been telling the truth judging by her hard rock abs and incredibly toned legs.
2009 will be a very busy year for the recently married singer. Aside from getting back with the Peas and coming out with a hit single and futuristic video, Fergie also has plenty of projects in the pipeline, like the aforementioned movie.
