Welcome to the Fedora Weekly Report! Last week came with a couple of interesting events from the Fedora world, such as the interview with Paul Frields, Fedora Project Leader, the migration of Fedora Project's Wiki to a different platform, and a few security advisories for your favorite Linux distribution.

On May 13, Fedora 9 Sulphur was launched, and a lot of waves were made around this distribution. Because we wanted to find out more about it and the upcoming Fedora 10, we contacted Paul W. Frields, Fedora Project Leader, who was kind enough to answer us a few questions. He told us many interesting things and, when he was asked about the way in which Fedora was going to compete with other projects, he answered: "Well, I should point out that FOSS isn't a simple competition; it's more like "co-opetition" - so adopting an 'us vs. them' attitude ends up being not very constructive or healthy. It's much healthier to build FOSS by having a robust policy for dealing with upstream software communities. The Fedora policy of working closely and vigorously with these upstream groups means we're not just consuming that work, we're contributing to it actively. "

On the fedora-announce-list mailing list, Mike McGrath has announced that starting with today, 26th May, Fedora Project website's wiki will be run by MediaWiki, replacing Moin. The announcement has been made public so everyone that's interested can contribute to the improvement of the new Wiki system, as there was no migration script and an in-house one had to be created. The old Wiki will still be kept for a while, in case something goes wrong.

Now let's move on to the security advisories. The first one is Fedora 9, "Sulphur":

■ vsftpd-2.0.6-4.fc9 ■ dbmail-2.2.9-1.fc9 ■ gnutls-2.0.4-3.fc9 ■ Django-0.96.2-1.fc9

The second on the list is Fedora 8:

■ vsftpd-2.0.5-20.fc8 ■ gnutls-1.6.3-3.fc8 ■ Django-0.96.2-1.fc8

And the third edition is Fedora 7:

■ vsftpd-2.0.5-17.fc7 ■ Django-0.96.2-1.fc7 ■ gnutls-1.6.3-3.fc7
