The vulnerability leveraged in February by the hackers has been fixed

A few hours ago, Anonymous hackers leaked a document that allegedly contains the details of all US Federal Reserve (Fed) employees, including their names, email addresses, and phone numbers.

The organization’s representatives have told Bloomberg that they’re currently working with law enforcement authorities to determine where the data is coming from.

However, they believe that the “non-sensitive information about some employees” leaked now might have been obtained during the February 2013 hack.

At the time, the Fed admitted that the attackers gained access to some of their systems by exploiting a vulnerability in a “website vendor product.”

The security hole leveraged at the time by Anonymous was allegedly fixed shortly after the breach had been discovered.

“That vulnerability was remediated shortly after discovery and we are confident that the Fed’s critical operations were not affected,” a Fed Spokesman told Bloomberg.
