Well, at least the Showcase Lounge, courtesy of Microsoft

There's no secret about the fact that Microsoft would love nothing more than to get completely comfortable into every nook and cranny of your house, but the company is also offering tangible proof of such a scenario. Of course, it all falls into the bigger vision of digital life and digital lifestyle that Microsoft is marketing with a plethora of software and hardware products. In the end, the goal is to make technology nothing but a mundane aspect of. Your everyday activities, faded into the background, seamlessly integrating with your routine and actions. And in this context, the household is a great place to start.

They say that home is where the heart is; well, for Microsoft and for this iteration of Windows, home is where Vista is. Nothing more and nothing less than this. The company's latest operating system, Windows Vista, that hit the shelves in January 2007 and which is right on track for its first major update in the first quarter of 2008 with SP1, has to be placed as the center-piece of any digital home. This is the Microsoft perspective. And the adjacent images, courtesy of Georgina M are vivid proof of how Microsoft would integrate its technology into your house.

"I really need to upgrade a few bits and pieces of kit at home - perhaps not the 50" plasma screen, but I'll certainly be looking around for something cool and funky in the new year. Have you any ideas what I can get for my home that will make people go WOW! the whole effect was very impressive - I now want a digital photo frame that I can remotely manage and upload photos to. I'd forgotten that there are wireless models out there now which I can send stuff too remotely - and I'd quite like a new media centre too. This little Sony model is really impressive - and looks fine in the living room. I was also blown away with the HP home server - I really must get one of those as soon as possible. This one had a terabyte of storage space", revealed Eileen Brown, Microsoft IT Evangelist Manager.

The Windows Vista showcase lounge has been set up for quite a while on the Microsoft campus, more exactly in building 2 of Thames Valley Park in Reading. And by the looks of it, it sure manages to beat the sub-zero Vista ice palace, or the Digital Ice House that Microsoft built in Dundas Square, Toronto, Ontario, in terms of comfort. And you'd better believe it that Microsoft has gone all out. Nothing but Vista Home Premium and Ultimate, 50" Phillips TV, Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 HD DVD drive, Sony Media Center, Tranquil PC Home Server, HP Home Server Dell XPS 700 and Memento 10" wireless picture frame. The components enumerated by Georgina would simply make any geek drool.
